Spores 65-80 µm, shot out as hyaline, 0-7 septate. Par highly variable, brown in mass

cheers

Thomas
G starbaeckii is supposed to have between 7-9 septa at maturity which would not fit with your find.

In a reply by Luc Lenaerts (http://ascofrance.com/search_forum/65946) he said he has found spore sizes for G fallax that from 56.8 µm to 85.7 µm so if this is right it would fit with your find.

Hello,
I wrote it wrong (see  http://ascofrance.com/search_forum/65946).
I found average spore sizes of G. fallax from 56,8 to 95,7 µm

El aspecto macroscópico y algunas parafisis que se ven son de G. fallax.
The macroscopic appearance and some paraphyses that are seen are from G. fallax.

despite the lack of external exudate in the upper hymenium? Typical Danish material has higher spore length average, but, nevertheless, I find this complex highly confusing but so far I have trouble accepting a spore lengt average ranging as 56,8 to 95,7 µm. Some molecular data would be highly welcome.

In my opinion, the presence of exudate is very variable, from absent to abundant, even in the same preparation. In The Geoglossaceae of North America (1908), with the original description of Geoglossum fallax, Durand classifies this American species in the key 'with paraphyses and asci free above, the apices not agglutinated to form a brown epithecium'. Nannfeldt (1942), in 'The Geoglossaceae in Sweden' saw European material from Mougeot & Nestler that Durand identified as G. fallax, with large amounts of brown exudate, although Durand did not mention this.

A good feature for fallax it's a lot of hyaline immature spores with only one large guttule in the width.
