Coccomyces like.
Yannick Mourgues, 23-10-2017 23:25
Yannick MourguesFound on Rubus sp. stem near water.

Spores 5-6 septa, 49,8-62,2x2,5-3 um without gel sheath, one end rounded, the other acute.

Asci 8-spored, with a short stipe, cylindrical and fusiform to the apex. 100-110x10-12um

Paraphyses filiform, septate, with tapered end, embeded in a gel matrix, same size as asci.

Any idea ? I'm not even shure about the genus...

Re : Coccomyces like.
To me it looks more like a Karstenia (idaei?). I do count many more septa than 5–6 on your photos!

Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Coccomyces like.
Difficult for me to see these septa. On which picture do you count more then 6 ?
Yes, Karstenia is also a good Idea.

Re : Coccomyces like.
A quick example attached. If you are still unsure you could try to study the ascospores in Melzer's which should yield clearer results regarding the septation.

Re : Coccomyces like.
I also think it is K. idaei. You should obtain a hemiamyloid reaction of the entire hymenium in Lugol. Coccomyces and Rhytismatales in general are entirely inamyloid.

Hi all,
I had shown this before longer time here, as Cryptodiscus ? How do I find again in the forum ? The search function does not function.
Greetings Peter.

Re : Coccomyces like.
Thank's.
I'm looking forward to my new Lugol. I will then look for this hemiamyloid reaction.
Amitiés.
