Nectria on Populus bark
Enrique Rubio, 27-01-2017 17:55
Enrique RubioHi again
Could this fungus be simply Nectria cinnabarina on Populus nigra bark? The perithecia are up to 0.5 mm, not collapsing when dry, with a dark mammate region around the ostiole. Conidiomata synnmatous, conidia ovoid, smooth and hyaline. Ascomatal walls slightly purple in KOH or lactic acid, with no clear psedoparenchimatous structure.
In afirmative case, is common this so long tubercularia anamorph?
Thanks again for your help.

Re : Nectria on Populus bark
Hi Enrique,
your fungus (ascomata) is Thelonectria discophora (asexual morph cylindrocarpon-like) ,
and the synnemata  are asexual morph of another fungus.
Cheers!
Christian
