Asco on Pinus sp.
Pavol Palo, 02-05-2014 11:32
Hi everybody,

I found this one on death branch of Pinus sp.The fruitbody are mostly 0,5-1 mm wide (hard).

Paraphyses 80-100 x 2-3 µm (branched). The asci are 8 spores 50-80 x 5-10 µm (no iodid reaction). Ascospores 12-14 x 6-7 µm (low ornamentation). 10% KOH no reakction.

Thanks

Palo

Re : Asco on Pinus sp.
Hi

if you make the apothecia wet they should open their hymenium and show a somewhat toothed margin.

This must be Cenangium ferruginosum, although I never saw the apothecia so pustulate and also wonder about the hyphoid elements on your photo (where did you see them?).

The spores are guttulate with large and small drops, but I cannot imagine that they get ornamented.

hi palo, if you put the twig in water for a while the fruitbodies open and you get wonderful apothezias. i agree with zotto: never seen such rough excipulum ...
here a collection on pinus mugo with very green hymenium.

best
