Capronia pulcherrima?

Using Gernot's excellent key to the genus in Ascomycete.org I arrive at C. pulcherrima. However I am uncertain as to how large the spores of this species can get. Munk in his description of Dictyotrychiella pulcherrima gives spore measurements of 10-11 x 3-4µm, and this is repeated in the transfer to Capronia:

However in discussions Gernot has had on ASCOfrance the impression is that the spores can be larger than that - though always significantly smaller than those of C. semi-immersa. Details of my find are:

perithecia up to 200µm diameter, with short straight/curved setae; on fallen decorticated, thin (16mm diameter) branch of Salix caprea/cinerea

asci 8-spored, spores 10.9-13.8(14.1) x 4.5-5(5.2)µm; septation as in images below

Am I correct in thinking this is OK for C. pulcherrima?

Untereiner (1997) gives 11.7-14.6 x 3.3-4.7 um so your collection fits quite well.

Hi Chris,

Very interested to hear about your Capronia-I recently found one (by accident) also on decorticated Salix. I wasn't familiar with the genus and it was Nick Aplin who suggested C. acutiseta (see http://ascofrance.com/forum?page=4). I don't normally go for these tiny ascos but Capronia has a lot going for it with setae and interesting spores. Was out today and did not find much but did turn up another Capronia which I'll post shortly.
