Nectriaceae?
Elsa Sousa, 28-12-2018 01:11
Good evening,

This fungi was on a rotten shrub.
Spores (15.6) 15.9 - 19.2 (19.4) × (3.7) 3.8 - 4.88 (4.9) µm fusoid (not sure but I think amyloid)
They seem to be septate - 1-3 in asci, but outside is difficult to be sure.

They were over a  unidentified mass, at first I thought it was a crust.

Can you help me?

Thank you very much.

Elsa

Re : Nectriaceae?
Dear Elsa,

seems to be Hypomyces aurantius.

Do ascomata change color in KOH? check ascospores size outside the asci, with or without apiculi.

All the best,

Christian

Re : Nectriaceae?
Hi dear Christian,

Thanks for answer.
I have no KOH but NaOH, stained like photo.
I don't find description for Hypomyces aurantius. Can you tell me the measure of the expected spores?

Re : Nectriaceae?
Dear Elsa,

there's a description e.g. in Rogerson et Samuels (1993): Polyporicolous species of Hypomyces, online here: http://www.cybertruffle.org.uk/cyberliber/59350/0085/002/0231.htm

Best regards,
Viktorie
