Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
Or B. moriformis? Isn't B. latispora wider in the spores? 40 x 5-6 µm is normal in B. moriformis.

Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
... yes, I did not compare the spore width. Usually, it is B. latispora on Abies - but maybe not always ...

Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
Ah, I know latispora only from angiosperm wood and bark, with spres *8.5-12 µm wide. Corlett & Krug say +6-8.5(-10.5) µm and have it on coniferous or sometimes angiosperm wood.

Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
Hallo Zotto,
mit derart breiten Sporen käme noch B. italica in Frage.
vgl. Müller & Arx 1962 und evtl. meine Rhön-Arbeit (nur Notiz)

Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
Hi,
I would exclude B. latispora and B. italica (= B. gigantispora) as well. Both species have too wide spores.
On the other hand, if spores are still young, B. multiseptata is another possibiity, known to me on coniferous and deciduous wood as well.

Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
Hi Bernard,
I spoke about italica for Zottos collection - not about this of Joseba.
Best, Lothar

Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
There are quite a few samples from Luxembourg, Guy knows this species very well, and we were not sure how to name it. When considering shrinkage, the measurements of Corlett & Krug are not bad.
Can you tell me the exact reference for Müller & Arx? Also I do not have a pdf of B. gigantospora.

Re : En madera de Abeto (Abies)
Thanks Bernard!
This Kenyan find of B. gigantospora has straight spores, unlke ours which are always (very) slightly curved. The size not indicated, but from the scale in 5h they would be 30-35 x 13 µm, and only about 27 x 10 µm from the scale in i.
