Eutypella with nearly hyaline spores?
Björn Wergen, 25-03-2012 20:14
Björn WergenHi again

I had another one which does not seemto be easily identified. My problem are the pale, nearly hyaline spores sometimes 1-septated when reaching maturity. There aren't distinct ostioli and perithecia are crowded to 2-5 in a lean stroma.

Asci are eutypoid typically long stalked (70-120x5-12µm). Paraphyses are filled with bigger, refractive guttules, septated and branched.

Is this a species of Eutypella? It grows on dead, attached smaller Betula twigs.

The small randomly scatterd oildrops and spore shape (irregular allantoid) does not fit to Eutypella. Perhaps Calosphaeria

thanks and regards,
björn
