Sordariomycetes sp.?
Bernard Declercq, 03-09-2023 11:40
Bernard DeclercqHi friends,

Collected on dead culms of bamboo (Phyllostachys sp.):
Ascomata non-stromatic, immersed, scattered, lifting the periderm, globose, about 250 µm diam., with papillate neck protruding-the surface, black. Asci cylindrical, uniseriate 8-spored,. 57-75x5.5 µm, with enlarged base. Ascospores ellipsoid, 7.5-8x3-4 µm, 1-septate, slightly constricted at the septum, inconspiciously striate, with 1(2-3) large guttules per hemispore, golden yellow.
Paraphyses filiform, guttulate.
I don't find even a matching genus name for this one. Your help is welcome.

Best regards,

Bernard

Hi Bernard
Look for an immature Roussoella.

Re : Sordariomycetes sp.
Thank you very much, Rubio.
Indeed, this is Roussoella minutella (Penzig & Sacc.) Aptroot ss. Aptroot(?)
R. minutella is a synonym of R. pustulans according Hyde (1997) but the collection here has smaller ascospores (7.5-9x3-4 µm vs. 10-16x4-5 µm).
R. minutella ss. str. is described from Indonesia. Maybe the European collections (a.o. Candoussau?) are in need of a new name.
