Lachnellula ??
Joaquin Martin, 21-10-2020 17:05
Hi,

I found this beautiful and tiny ascomycete on Phytolacca americana.
It remember me some species of the genus Lachnellula or Capitotricha.. but it doesn't fit.
The measurements of spores ( spored ) are 25-31 x 4-4.8, whitout septa,
but some times inside the ascus they have one or three septa ( see pics ).
Ascus measurements are 85-95 x 10 µm.
The reaction hemiamiloid is positive
Any information will be welcome
Thanks.

<les spores par leur taille et leur forme font penser à Lachnellula splendens mais le support serait étonnant.

Hello,

Lachnellula is supposed to grow on conifers only, so this could be another genus. How do the paraphyses look like (live in water)? Do you have a photo of the hairs? Are they incrusted or smooth - and If incrusted, then on their whole length or is the apex smooth?

Ah, this one on Phytolacca! I have it in Hegermila, but with a little doubt. Strange enough the other collection on Phytolacca has distinctly shorter, always 1-celled spores and concurs herein with samples on Urtica and Humulus.

The Phytolacca sample was sequenced and falls not far from Trichopeziza sulphurea.

Good, the last pic shows paraphyses too?

Ivana agreed to send also this sample for sequencing.
