Black discomycete on Rhododendron ferrugineum
Gernot Friebes,

this one I collected on a dead branch of Rhododendron ferrugineum. The ascospores measure about 11-11,5 x 3,5-3,8 µm and are filled with numerous oil drops. The asci have croziers and are IKI-. The paraphyses are hyaline and slightly thickened apically. The medulla contains greenish material. Thanks again for your help!
Best wishes,
Gernot

Did you test KOH for ionomidotic?

Re : Black discomycete on Rhododendron ferrugineum
It should be a Cordieritidaceae, and there it is very difficult to give a name.
I have a folder Phaeangella which is a potential name for these fungi. Compare "semilichenia" and P. ulicis. They are quite similar but their DNA is very divergent!
Your fungus will be difficult to distinguish from them by morphology I fear.
How large are your apos?

Great, thanks. That does look very similar. The apos are around 0,5 mm in diam.
Best wishes,

Und das war richtig in den Alpen? Wahrscheinlich hat auch daran Guy großes Interesse.

Der Fundpunkt ist ± identisch mit den Orbilien, die ich dir heute geschickt habt (nur etwas weiter SW).
