Black asco on Phytolacca americana
Ethan Crenson, 23-12-2016 14:43
An anamorph, I think.  Black raised spots on stems of Phytolacca americana.  Very tiny .5mm.  Conidiospores are hyaline, curved and range from 25-32 by 2.

I have seen this before but no ideas.  Hopefully someone else knows it.

Hello Ethan,
You have to search among Phomopsis. It's an anamorph of a Diaporthe. Those curved beta-conidia's are typical of Phomopsis, and the shape of the conidiomata reminds me of some Phomopsis I've seen.
Cheers - LUC.
