Bernard CLESSE, 27-09-2016 20:51
Bernard CLESSESur sphaignes pourries dans un fossé tourbeux asséché, en pessière-boulaie tourbeuse.

D'accord pour Hyaloscypha leucoconica ?

You don't have live micros? Warts on the hairs of leuconica sound unusual.

Excuse me Zotto, I do not quite understand what you mean by "live micros"

Bon soir,

Really handsome hairs. I'll try to squeeze a comment or an opinion from Seppo on Wednesday. He is here on a field trip right now. In the monograph var. leuconica is mentioned to have been bearing resin in Lugol in one apo in one of the studied samples.

Hi Timo,

Thank you for your opinion and ask the comment Seppo. For information my pictures were mounted in the water, so the drops of "resin" on the hairs are naturally present.

Re : Encore Hyaloscypha leucoconica sur Sphagnum ?
I see you had a collection on Sphagnum also in August 2016. There the hairs seem to be more thickwalled as it is typical, also more smooth. The spores you gave as 2.5-3 µm wide, and I think in the present case they are also in fact above 2 µm.
Finely warted hairs I see on pics by Enrique. Sparse granular deposits I also see on pics of bulbopilosa. So you may really be right with leuconica.

But are there no thick-walled hairs in this sample?

Thank you Zotto !

I will redo a measurement of the width of spores and check the walls of the hairs.

Just a brief comment from Seppo: He has seen leuconica on Sphagnum maybe two times. Atleast the other case was a collection from the green part of Sphagnum.

Re : Encore Hyaloscypha leucoconica sur Sphagnum ?
I looked again the hairs and I see nothing special in terms of their walls they are thin. Very often, the hairs are coalescing, as stuck in the resin. And you were right Zotto ! I remeasured spores and the width is 2.5-3 µ regularly !

These hair fascicles and the thin-wall - so my doubts remain a bit about these Spagnum samples.

yes, "leuconica" needs studying! No good answers here, yet atleast.
