Miguel Ãngel RibesGood night

I have this small 1-2 mm broad light violet stalked apos on Fagus sylvaticus cupules.

Elipsoid spores slightly heteropolar with small guttules, covered with a hialine coberture, (10.2) 10.8 - 12.8 (13.7) x (4.1) 4.2 - 4.9 (5.4) µm; Q = (2.3) 2.4 - 2.8 (3.0) ; N = 75; Me = 11.6 x 4.5 µm ; Qe = 2.6.
Asci with croziers (I think), eight spores, euamyloid, Sclerotiniaceae type, (79.4) 85.4 - 101.9 (103.7) x (8.5) 8.6 - 10.0 (11.5) µm; Me = 94.4 x 9.5 µm.
Ectal excipulum with textura prismatica at base, more and more globose-angularis at margin.
Medullar excipulum with textura intricata and gelatinous.
Paraphysis cylindrical with 2-3 very long VBs.
Presence of crystals and "special hyphae" with globose ¿VBs? inside in the medullar excipulum.

Could you help me, please?

Thank you.

Great documentation, and how you succeeded to make a section of this rubbery fungus!

I have no doubt with your identification. Only I would turn the spore plate upside down, the wider part of the spores points towards apex.

The apical ring is indeed remniscent of Sclerotiniaceae. This may underline the relationship of Ombrophila to Ascocoryne and Chloroscypha, especially the latter looks also sclerotiniaceous.

Thanks Zotto

I will turn spores 180º, great observation.

My first impression with this species was Ascocoryne, only when I cheked your key I noticed it didn't fit with none species.

One question, what are that "special hyphae" plenty of blue ¿VBs?

And the last one, I haven't biblio about this species, more than your DVD. At Index Fungorum nor MycoBank I find the species. Any documentation, please?

Best wishes.

I am actually not sure whether these hyphae belong to the fungus. The resolution of the pics is a but low in Ascofrance, but I do not know such hyphae ín Ombrophila.

The undescribed species is on Cubby:

Ok, now I understand, thanks. Could I sent to your private mail pictures with more resolution?

Best wishes.
