Hello together,

does anyone know this Pyxidiophora? It grows on sheep dung.

Perihecial neck: 180 - 200 µ long

Spores: 45 - 48 x 5 - 6 µ, one septed no dark dot, over 100 spores adhere to each other

I have found P. arvernensis before, the spores were ejected bit by bit. They also did not stick together as a bundle.

Greetings Sven

Hello Sven!

Although the dimensions you give for the beak are longer than in the literature your mushroom seems close to P.arvernensis. F.doveri & B.coué (DM Volume 34 Fascicle No. 133-134) also gives in the key somewhat longer spore dimensions, but these are quite variable.

Michel.

Re : unknown Pyxidiophora
Hello Michel,

thanks for your answer! The features and spore shape are slightly different from my findings at arvernensis. Maybe it's about Pyxidiophora petchii?

Greetings Sven

Bonsoir Sven.

I had also thought of P.petchii, but the spores seem to be larger than for P. arvernensis; on the other hand the length of the collar would be good. I do not know P.petchii, F.Doveri gives it on rabbit poop.

Michel.
