I am culturing and trying to identify three aspergillus spp. from soil and when I searched this forum, it results that there is not much interess, posts or discussions. I wonder if I should post my findings here or maybe there is a / are more suitable community websites on microfung incl. Aspergilli. My cultures consists of one species in the section fumigati group (I think A. pseudofischeri?) one forms a black colony (= nigri section) and one related to A. ochraceus.
Many thanks

Re : help on Aspergillus
Hi Stephen,
I do not think it is selfless, I think it is a complex issue, to identify it, you have to isolate it, grow it on three different culture media and at three different temperatures that makes many people give up, because not everyone has the necessary means. It should also have a few species to highlight the differences between it.
Greetings
Angel

Re : help on Aspergillus
OK, thanks for replying, I agree! I have cultured the the three species on MEA. OA, CZ and PDA (and I can also culture on SDA and YEA), but only at 20C (room temp in winter!) . Well, I have nothing to lose to post here my findings.
I saw your pic of the aspergillus publication... info@maltawildplants.com is my email if you can share that personally.
Just a quick question: is Neosartorya an accepted genus (in section Fumigati) ??? The difference is the presence of ascogenous sexual reproduction in Neosartorya but I read somewhere that all Aspergillus spp. can reverto to sexual reproduction under unnatural conditions in the lab so the new genus is not much useful taxonomically - so I am a bit confused ?
