Plicaria carbonaria in purple?
Jan-Arne Mentken, 04-10-2017 20:45
Hello everyone,

some days ago I found this one on burnt ground. BREITENBACH/KRÄNZLIN (1981) describe Plicaria anthracina (= Plicaria carbonaria) as a dark brown to black species and a friend of mine also told me that he didn't find it with dark purple colours yet. Still I found documentations of dark purple collections on this page and also on some other web pages and the microscope characteristics also fit for Plicaria carbonaria. So, is that naming all right?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Jan-Arne

Re : Plicaria carbonaria in purple?
Hi,
this is already Pl. carbonaria. However, the third photo does not fit in the macroscopic pictures, is fine rather a Peziza (moseri, praetervisa/ violacea...).
Greetings Peter.

Hi Peter,

that's the approval I was hoping for. And you are probably right. The fruit body on picture 3 indeed looks quite different. Too bad I didn't see that early enough. Danke!

Best regards,
Jan-Arne
