Tomaz VuckoHello!
How would you name this species? Most perithecia seem to be immersed but some are also superficial. I unitentionally dried this sample a bit before microscopy. Ascospores dimensions and asci width seems to correspond with A.immersa.
Ascospores dimensions:
(27.5) 28.5 - 33.1 (37.2) × 9.1 - 10.3 (10.5) µm
Q = (2.7) 2.8 - 3.5 (3.8) ; N = 32
Me = 31.1 × 9.7 µm ; Qe = 3.2

Asci width cca. (N=10):
Me=16,3 (14,2-17,5)

Not sure which substrate I found it on. Location is Slovenia, January 2026.

Re : Amniculicola
Hi Tomaz,
A. immersa is a  poorly known taxon, to my knowledge only known from the type collection. Thus, the range of its natural morphological variations is not fully assessed.
Based on your excellent photos, I would say you are very likely correct with your identification.
This fungus was collected on dead wood in a small lake. Does your collection match this ecology?Best of luck with freshwater pyrenomycetes!
Best,
Jacques

Re : Amniculicola
Hello!
Thanks for the opinion. Very appreciated!
Unfortunately regarding location I don't really know where I found it because I left it on the table as a reserve for bad weather days, among other species of asco, and than I forgot about exact location. Otherwise whole place where I was foraging last days is a floodplain area and I was mostly searching near wetlands where I most likely picked it up. I think I will have to start carrying a marker with me.
All the best
