Spores with a sheath
MARICEL PATINO, 02-01-2026 17:43
Hi there, although I couldn't see the fruitbody, I found these remarkable spores while inspecting a jelly fungus that was growing among moss. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Re : Spores with a sheath
Hi,
It would still be a good idea to check whether there are any clusters of spores on the substrate next to the jelly fungus, as these could be spores of Pleomassariaceae, a pyrenomycete immersed under the bark. What was the supporting wood?
Having only spores to go on is like guessing...

Thanks a lot Alain. The wood is Corylus avellana. I will try to inspect it. This was found in Sicily in November, in a rain forest mountain. Maricel
