Lopadostoma? Valsaria? Amphisphaeria….?
Ismael Wind, 24-04-2023 23:39
This species was growing on oenothera. Spores are brown and about 17,5-20 x 7,5. Is it an valsaria or amphisphaeria or Lopadostoma?

Re : Lopadostoma? Valsaria? Amphisphaeria….?
I am answering you in a friendly way to help you get an answer: you have to give much more than photos and size of spores.
First of all, you have to describe the ascoma well. A vertical section is often important (look at attached example). It gives information on the ascoma, but also on details of its environment (stroma, involucrellum, ...).
The same applies to microscopy. With the spores alone, you can't say much. A tip for this one, try iodine for a possible reaction of the apical apparatus of the asci, as you must have noticed that this one is unitunicate.
Look at some of the posts for models, such as Enrique's recent one about a Helminthosphaeria on Ficus carica. Even if you don't have all of Enrique's experience, you should be able to tell more.

Hi Alain you are ofcourse very correct. I want it too fast its my pitfall. I will think of that in future! This one Will remain uncertain, although i do believe it is Anthostomella tomicoides
