Re : imperfect fungus with curled structures (conidia) from Portugal
Hello Thomas,
thanks for your proposal. This is possible, but I think it is (likely) not the anamorph of the very common T. cerea (should be yellowish).

Re : imperfect fungus with curled structures (conidia) from Portugal
Hallo Lothar
was this on the underside of wood in a seasonally wet area? It looks like a typical aero-aquatic micro-habitat.
Do you have Amy Rossman's 1987 paper on the Tubeufiaceae?

Re : imperfect fungus with curled structures (conidia) from Portugal
Hello Chris,
thank you very much for your response. Your question about the ecology is quite difficult to answer. First: the collection was one of maybe a dozen I took at this excursion. When we were there nearly everything was dried out despite of only a small rivulet, although it was winter and usually there is more moisture. Maybe the piece of wood was near the rivulet (and it looks wet in deed) and sometimes inundated, and so you would be right.
I have the Rossman paper 1987 but this contains few about anamorphs (?). A bit more (but not a lot also) I find in the paper of Boonmee, Rossman and others (2014).

Have you looked at: Goos RD (1987) Fungi with a twist: the helicosporous hyphomycetes. Mycologia 79:1–22 ?

Hello Chris,
thanks for this hint - but unfortunately I am not able to download it, there seems to be no free source.
Perhaps somebody can help?

likely Helicosporium from Portugal
Hello Chris
I just tried the key - and with all unsecurities to chose I come best to the genus Helicosporium. I then downloaded the paper "Helicosporous hyphomycetes from China" where is a key and characterization of a lot of species of this genus. But I fear - I have to take another closer look at my specimen and will have to see if this can be successful ...
Thanks for your help again and best regards
