Mollisia atlantica?
Unai Fernandes, 05-02-2021 01:13
Hi!

I collected this specimens of Mollisia on woody remains of Ruscus aculeatus plant.

I have come to the conclusion of M. "atlantica", I would say that it is, it has squared me well, but seen that there are more species I have certain doubts. As M. "atlantica" is nom. prov by Andreas Gminder and he is still studying it, if someone could help me or give me some information about it, I would appreciate it. Any help is welcome.

-Ascospores: 8-10,5 x 2-2,5 µm, hyaline wiht a septum inside and outside the ascus.
-Paraphyses: Lipidid content.
-Ascus: With crozier, IKI +, KOH -
-Some exudate lipidid in cells.

Thanks you very much!

Re : Mollisia atlantica?
Dear Unai

this may well be so, but you need to study living asci, this is very important. If you often see septate spores inside living mature asci then I agree. Your figured ascus is dead. This makes a big difference because inside dead asciyou can find all stages of development and cannot say which spores are mature and which overmature.

Re : Mollisia atlantica?
Good afternoon Zotto!

Yes exactly, I have taken into account that character but it has been difficult to find mature ascis in good condition, four there, I have doubts when it comes to identify. I will return to make several preparations and observe it. If not, I'll leave it as is.

Thanks you very much!

Re : Mollisia atlantica?
you must have it fresh, otherwise it is without sense. Best is to make a section - and do not press.

Re : Mollisia atlantica?
Yes, that's perfect.
I'll prepare some samples and see if I get somethings.
lf so, if it's okay with you I'll let you know.

Thanks you Zotto!
