Lasiobolus on dung
Juuso Äikäs, 11-05-2020 14:56
I found some Lasiobolus growing on dung of some animal (droppings about 1.5cm long, any ideas?). The spores measure 22-25 x 9-10 um (fusoid?), hairs 350-600 um. The best candidate I have is Lasiobolus ruber. Any opinions are welcome!

Hello.
With these spores I think it could be Lasiobolus macrotrichus.

Hello.

Agree with Nicolas for L. macrotrichus; L.ruber is more orange-reddish; larger spores on average and some asci sometimes bi-serial. You can possibly compare the exipulum to specify.

Michel.

Re : Lasiobolus on dung
Thanks a lot for all the answers! Probably this is then L. macrotrichus. I'll try to add later some exipulum pics if I manage to make a preparation good enough.

And yes, the shape of the droppings is similar to Alces alces, but the size is much smaller. Here's some dry ones.

Not sure if this clarifies anything, but this is from a dry apo in 3% KOH.
