Peziza with red colours
Tapio Kekki, 10-03-2020 17:31
This Peziza was collected from calciferous herb-rich forest with deciduos trees and Picea abies in boreal zone in Finland.  Diameter 4 cm. This was found last autumn,  29.8.2019

Sporer with two guttules. Separate and coarse warts, 16.4-17.6x8-9.6µm - in water, fresh. Asci amyloid.

Any idea about the species?

Re : Peziza with red colours
Hola Tapio, encuentro en falta más imágenes de la microscopía, pero de aspecto me parece más una Discina = Gyromitra que una Peziza.
Con estas medidas esporales hasta quizás Discina melaleuca.
Saludos cordiales.

Asci were amyloid, that information was missing from the text, I'm sorry.

Pues con esporas verugosas, dos gotas y estas medidas solo se produce la Peziza michelii, pero no se le parece mucho.
Saludos cordiales

Hi

Indeed, Peziza micheli is quite variable but I have never seen it with such a smooth and purple-colored outer surface ??
The color of the juice would be helpful in this case.
This feature can be checked even on dry material. A small fragment of the fruiting body soaked in a few drops of water, after a few minutes stains H2O in an intense yellow color.

Re : Peziza with red colours
I tried with water, no yellow coloration. But it was important to know about that possibility!

So this is not P. michelii. Might be near boltonii, but growth place is very wrong - not a southern sand dune enviroment.

Dear Tapio,
This is hard to help you with your data. Information on the structure of flesh may be useful and a picture — photo or drawing — illustrating the spore ornamentation (in Cotton Blue) is required to make a serious proposition.
