tiny black pyrenomycete on Platanus
Ethan Crenson, 17-11-2017 06:43
From the Bronx, NYC on Platanus × acerifolia. On decorticated branches. Very small, .2-.4mm, subglobose, roughened black superficial perithecia. The spores are light brown, obovoid, rounded at the ends (sometimes acute at one end), 3-5 septate, usually quite constricted at the middle septum, somewhat constricted at the others, 25-31 by 7.5-11µm. The spores appear hyaline when immature and possibly enclosed in a gelatinous sheath. Asci bitunicate, 145-175 by 20-26µm, IKI-. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
