Hypoxylon?
Per Vetlesen, 04-08-2015 20:38
Substrate: Corylus avellana
Asci cylindric, 8-spored (some 4-spored), the spore-bearing parts Me = 77 x 9 µm, IKI+.
Spores 1-celled, dark, germinating pore almost the whole spore length a bit bent? Me = 13 x 5.5 µm.

I'm just a beginner when it comes to Ascomycetes and even when there are good keys on the Internet, I find it is very difficult to identify species. Anyway, I think this belongs in Xylariaceae in section Hypoxylon?
Microscopic it has much in common with Hypoxylon fuscum, but macroscopically it do not fit?
Many thanks for inputs

Re : Hypoxylon?
yes most likely fuscum, based on the typical ascospores.
Are you happy with your macrophotos? Sure you can do better!
Cheers,
Jacques

Hei Jacques

Thank you for replay
No, I'm not happy with my macrophotos! My only excuse is lack of skill and simple equipment. Picture 3, 4 and 5 are shot with DSLR through stereo microscope and I have great difficulty getting set it into focus and focus area gets very little. I am sorry and will try to improve.
