Hymenoscyphus ?
Nicolas VAN VOOREN, 10-09-2014 19:37

Apothecia were growing on decaying small leafs (lower face), maybe of Salix reticulata.
Asci 85-97 µm in length, with crozier, IKI+ (bb), apical ring of Hymenocyphus-type
Paraphyses containing a brownish vacuolar pigment
Spores ± fusoid or shoe-shaped, 17-24.5 × 4.5-5.5 µm, with numerous lipid bodies at the poles (see drawing)
Excipulum of textura prismatica

Une piste ? Any idea?

Re : Hymenoscyphus ?
It is difficult without photos. Are the spores sometimes slightly scutuloid? The brownish vacuoles, are they refractive or not? I do not understand the stipe size, 10 mm long and 2 mm thick? You say minuscule, but with such a thick stipe it should be a large fungus.

Re : Hymenoscyphus ?
Sorry Zotto, I forgot to translate the first part of my short description.
In fact ~0.2 mm is the diameter of the apothecia, I didn't measure the stipe. At first sight, the specimens were looking more like a small member of the Sclerotiniaceae...
The vacuoles inside paraphyses were not refractive and I didn't see any spores with a scutuloid shape.

Re : Hymenoscyphus ?
ah, 2/10 mm diam. :-)

So it should be a Hymenoscyphus indeed. Would be good to know whether the stipe is much longer than broad, or ....

In any case, with only spores figured it will be a pity for this probably interesting species.
