? Hysteropatella prostii on the Malus bark
Alex Akulov, 10-10-2013 16:56
Alex AkulovDear Friends,
on the bark of the dying branches of the apple tree (still attached to the tree) I have found abundant sporulation of the fungus, which I tentatively identified as Hysteropatella prostii. Asci (sporiferous parts) are 61-69 x 13,4-14,5 micron. Ascospores are 15,3-18,2 x 5-1-5,2 micron. Young ascospores are very light, almost hyaline, but during maturation they become markedly brown. Photos of all diagnostically important structures are attached.

Did I am correct in my assumptions?

Sincerely,
Alex

Hi Alex

yes, very typical! And no problem as long as growing on Malus bark.
