Hi,
I think this is most likely a Capronia sp, ascospores dimensions would help but it is a poorly known genus.
Best wishes,
Jacques

Spores 12-17um x 5,0-6,5um

Yes, spores-shape looks Capronia-like, you are right.

Peut-être Capronia nigerrima ? Les périthèces ne seraient-ils pas sur vieux pyrénomycète et forment-ils un stroma ou sont-ils isolés ?

Hi Guy,

Perithecies are isolated, on wood.

Re:Small blackish-brown Asco on rooten wood
Yesterday I was microscoping a small pseudothecium close to Mollisia sp., and I think it is C.pilosella.
In Ellis & Ellis is description: "short setae forming a compact ring around the ostiole and a few other scattered ober the surface" (p.29, fig. 107) and this is exactly my fungus:

Re:Small blackish-brown Asco on rooten wood
but if C.pilosella has only short spores around the ostiole, so is my first fungus the same species ?

best wishes

Re:Small blackish-brown Asco on rooten wood
please note, that the spores in my first fungus are MURIFORME (C.pilosella has 3-celled sp.)
