Gorgoniceps sur Ammophila arenaria
Michel Hairaud, 20-08-2012 21:57
Michel HairaudBonsoir .
Hi to all.

Could you please comment the following collection which I just have received on Ammophila arenaria and tell me if G. micrometra is the most appropriate name. Ectal excip. of 2-3,5 µm dark brown hyphae with thick walls . Ascus 80x8 , IKI negative, spores multiseptate and multi vacuolated,  60-65 x 3 at largest tip.
I would also appreciate any  synthetic documentation about Gorgoniceps .

Merci. Amitiés à tous . Michel

Re : Gorgoniceps sur Ammophila arenaria
Hi Michel

this is an undescribed species. Christian Scheuer knows it for a long time, and I saw also some collections. Here you can see the vital characters.

Very similar is G. micrometra, but that has filiform spores, while here we have clavate spores.

I do not think that Durella and Gorgoniceps are two genera, because Excipulum, yellow VBs and asci look very much the same.

G. micrometra was also studied by Christian but I never saw it.

Thanks very much, Zotto

Interesting find, then.
I agree, Durella species are close, also (D. ''subconnivens" especially, as represented in your dvd,)

Hi,

interesting indeed.

I like very, very much the 4. photo.
It reminds some van Gogh paintings.
Would you Michel be so kind and send me a copy of it for a start to a collection of fungal art ;)

Hi Marja,
I'm afraid it will be very very expensive and that this masterpiece might be the unique myco art image you could afford  -:) , yet, ok for I recognize it's worth it !
I will come some day to make sure your hanging of it is suitable !

Amitiés
Michel
