HiHere is a (cf.) Leptosphaeria on Impatiens noli-tangere stems from N-Germany (Mecklenburg). Torsten Richter made the drawing and I the photos.
We have no idea but did not go deep in the literature.

haha, gute Idee, aber die Perithezien sind dort zu konisch, nicht abgeflacht. Und die großen Öltropfen fehlen hier auf Impatiens.

I was also looking around L. ogilviensis in seeing L. erigerontis. Ascospores are better than ogilviensis' ones. It has been seen on Aster, Erigeron, Eupatorium....

Berlese (Icones I, pl. LXXI, 3, descr. p.81) shows L.er. as immerse in host tissue and erumpent through the epidermis, not sessile. Is this a less important feature?

I don't know really. But with the example of L. acuta, this one starts immersed and generally we discover it without the periderm of Urtica whichone disappear quickly. Perhaps it's possible.

Is there a fundamental work on Leptosphaeria? The index lists over 1,600 names, and will remain after deduction of the synonyms Maybe left over 1000 names. In the wonderful book by Berlese (for me a unique work of Pyrenomycetes) many species are so close together that I can not believe that there really so many species exist.

The perithecia look superficial but there are a few which seem to bhe young ones, and these are clearly erumpent. Whether the epidermis is gone I am not sure.

the only fundamental work which I have, is the dissertation of Müller from 1950. I attach it for those who are interested.

Leptosphaeria erigerontis in Berlese is not the same that in Holm & Holm (problem with the septs).
Zotto's leptosphaeria is closed to this last one (in ogiilviensis' group)
Holm & Holm "Pleosporacées et Lophiostomatacées" is also a good work (in french).

Il s'agit de ses "Etudes taxonomiques sur les Pleosporacées" éditée en 1957 à Uppsala : Symbolae Botanicae Uppsalienses XIV : 3
Je n'en ai qu'une version papier reliée (photocopie). Je le numériserai un jour ; en attendant je peux scanner tout le nécessaire.
