Sulfur yellow tiny asco on hardwood
Francois Guay, 23-06-2025 04:03
Francois GuayHi, I found this tiny sulfur yellow asco growing on a decaying hardwood log.
-Apothecia 1-2 mm
- Spores 9,1-15 × 2,1-2,6 ?m, one or two celled
- Asci IKI +

Here is the iNat link for photos: https://www.inaturalist.ca/observations/290213767

Does anyone know what it is? Thanks

Re : Sulfur yellow tiny asco on hardwood
Looks much like a Dasyscyphella. I compared D. chrysotexta from Croatia, previously described in a new genus Velebitea. See my folder in Lachnaceae.

This would be interesting to compare also by DNA.

Forgot to say that the spores seem to get septate only after discharge, in case you want to see a difference to chrysotexta. Both your images and the protologue are in the chrysotexta-folder.
