Green dots on Pinus
Margot en Geert Vullings, 12-02-2024 10:38
We have seen these green dots on a dead pine on bare wood and appear to be embedded in an algae layer.
Reminiscent of Thelocarpon, but it looks different.
Per ball we see 2-3 asci that are full of small spores.
The spores measured in water are on average Me = 6.9 × 2.5 µm; Qe = 2.8.
There seem to be many paraphyses? around the bulb, which are branched.
There is no reaction seen in lugol.

We have no idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance,

Margot&Geert
