Pilobolus oedipus/lentiger?
Niek Schrier,

A few months ago (18-10-2021) I found a Pilobolus on dog feces in Utrecht (The Netherlands).
The spores are round (Q around 1) and vary a lot in diameter, ranging from 9 to 17 micrometers (see foto's, scarebars are 2,9 micrometer for foto's with biggest magnification). The walls of the spores are thin, indicating this is P. lentiger. However, this species was not yet recorded in The Netherlands and P. oedipus is.
Does anyone have experiance with this genus? And could you tell which species it is?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
Niek

Re : Pilobolus oedipus/lentiger?
I would definitely call these P sphaerosporus rather than P oedipus. Thespores show no sign of the thick wall and relatively consistant size of oedipus.
