Sphaeropsis sapinea / Pinus nigra ?
Aouali Souhila, 08-06-2021 18:16
Hi,

I lately studied P. nigra pine needles suffering blight symptoms. Could this be Sphaeropsis sapinea? based on literature the conidia are not septate, however in some literature cases of one septate conidia are present too. Another possibility that I came throu is Phoma acicola? No measurings taken yet.

Thank you.

Re : Sphaeropsis sapinea / Pinus nigra ?
Hi

Usually 0-1 septate, but can be more in older conidia see image below (not a great photo, from some years ago, but shows the septa OK). I think you are correct if the measurements fit - a Phoma would have much smaller non-septate, colourless conidia.

Regards, Chris

Thank you Chris. I'll do measurements and compare.
