Asco morphologically similar to Ascobolus?
Mirek Gryc, 27-07-2020 11:25
Hi.

A friend sent me one small fruiting body.
Photos of poor quality because they were made of dry material.
The fruiting body is small, about 2.5 mm in diameter after soaking.
It grew on the ground, but it is possible that there were small pieces of wood in the ground.
I completely lack an idea. I only took a few photos as I preferred to leave some material as if some extra research was needed?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Spores: Me = 16.4 × 9 µm; Qe = 1.8
Young thick-walled spores.
Mirek

Re : Asco morphologically similar to Ascobolus?
Hi, this is'nt an Ascobolus, a Peziza sp. would be possible.

Peter.

Re : Asco morphologically similar to Ascobolus?
Hi Peter
Yes, I know it's not Ascobolus. It is only macroscopically similar to it, especially its dimensions.
I was also wondering about Peziza but I don't know anything of this kind, especially with spores with ornamentation.
The hymenium's profound response to iodine is puzzling?
Thanks for the suggestions.
