See Priou's paper: Pithyella chalaudii Priou sp. nov. (Helotiales) pour remplacer P. frullaniae (Chalaud) Döbbeler inval., Ascomycete.org, 11 (3) : 75–76

Spores of P. chalaudii are warted and I know it only from Frullania. See my drawing.

Re : unknown asco on metzgeria
Hi!
Thx for the nice drawings and text.
And the paper.

it seems like its something else. I think the spores seems to be smooth or almost so, with a big gelcoating almost one um wide around the spores. clearly visible in koh 10. another thing is that the parafyses seems to miss the guttules and last the ap at the host moss is a bit different tho the P. chalaudii found on internet. the color is cream white, not clearly white at least.

Re : unknown asco on metzgeria
This is possible, but please consider that your observations are on dead elements, therefore you do not see the guttules in the paraphyses and spores. Therefore I assume that they were guttulate also in your specimen.

Your first pic seem to show fine warts on the spore, or?
