orange operculate discomycete from the Bavaria Forest
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 30-11-2018 17:31
Lothar Krieglsteiner.. collected at 5.8.2018 in the Nature Reserve "Hochschachten" at about 1150 m NN, on a lying piece of wood (bark) likely of Pinus in bog vegetation (acid, dystrophic). The apothecia were about 3-4 mm large, the spores are about 13-17/5,5-6,3 µm large. Distinct hairs are absent, the paraphyses quite filiform. Can somebody provide me with a hint?

Best regards, Lothar

Dear Lothar,

this reminds me on Hymenoscyphus eichleri (Zotto has it under Phaeohelotium monticola group). Did you check the asci? I've seen it from two similar localities (coniferous wood over 1000 m asl, near a bog or forest springs.

Best,
Viktorie

Danke, Zotto!

Ich hielt das für Operculat - P. pilatii kenne ich nicht.

Anbei ein Foto in IKI, das den (negativen) Ascus-Apex zeigt.

Viele Grüße von Lothar

Hello Viktorie,

thanks for you, too - the same opinion as Zotto. This surely means something ...

Best regards, Lothar

I got rather weak IKI+b reaction too: https://www.nahuby.sk/obrazok_detail.php?obrazok_id=630762
But I assumed my Lugol was a bit diluted.

Indeed, H. eichleri is usually amyloid but sometimes inamyloid or variable.
