Pyrenopeziza (Pirottaea) sur Lamium
Enrique Rubio, 01-06-2008 19:10
Ectal excipulum globulosa to angularis, grisatre ou noir.
Merci de votre aide

Hi Enrique

I am again uncertain whether this should be sought in Pyrenopeziza or Pirottaea. No clear idea about the species. Did you try Bernard's Pyrenopeziza-key? My feeling is that Pirottaea species must have more thick-walled hairs.

Already I have tried to follow Bernard's key, but I do not come to any response. I also think that Pirottaea's species have thicker walls of the hairs, but it does not look like a typical Pyrenopeziza either.
Thank you again, Zotto

If you don't mind, send me please these images in higher resolution. perhaps I find something of my finds that might fit.

Re:Pyrenopeziza (Pirottaea) sur Lamium
I now tried my key and I only arrive at Pyrenopeziza pulveracea (or the assumed synonym P. nigrostriata). Possibly the apothecia should be more urceolate for pulveracea, but this might be somewhat variable. Alternatively I arrive at P. escharodes.

Re:Pyrenopeziza (Pirottaea) sur Lamium
Descriptions of Pirottaea nigrostriata Gremmen seems to coincide likely with my collection. Nevertheless, the descriptions of P. pulveracea (Trichopeziza pulveracea Fuckel) always says that it grows on Filipendula stems. If you say that both can to be synonyms, I suppose you could have studied the types of both species ?.
Thank you

Re:Pyrenopeziza (Pirottaea) sur Lamium
No, I didn't study this group very well. It was an early idea that nigrostiata might be the same as pulveracea, because I saw variation in these hairs within a specimen. Maybe you are right and we should distinguish between the two.

Hi ENrique and Zotto (and others may be ?)

As I am revising the Pirottaea . Pyrenopeziza species posted on Ascofrance, I come acros this post which I find very close to the one I lately evocated in an answer to Gilles Coriol question .
My find was on Menthae and I concluded in P. pulveracea.
Here are the pics I showed.

I am looking forward to meeting you both again in 3 weeks in the Somiedo paradise

Hi Michel

What do you think about this? It grow on Umbelliferae and the flanks and margin have brownish black scales + or - acute. Is it P. pulveracea too?

See you soon at Somiedo

Hi Enrique,
Nice pics ! Very much like it

I want to try to work them this spring bacause we have a lot usually in Le Marais Poitevin on all sorts of umbelliferae but we have a dry period at the moment here

I think I should also find P. atrata as Zotto introduced it lately on the forum

Amitiés
Michel

Hi Michel
Really many Pyrenopeziza are very difficult to be labeled (at least for me).
The weather is cold and rainy in Asturias but it has snowed at 1000 m. I think we will have favorable days at Somiedo Ascomycota 2013.

It's cold here too, some of my garden potatoes leaves froze this morning , which is very rare at that time of the year.
