clavarioid Akanthomyces on moth (Acleris sp.?) - imago
Thomas Læssøe, 06-02-2017 15:49
I have been forwarded a Swedish specimen of a smallish moth with many fat, protruding ochraceous clavae - with completely smooth surface. In the microscope a palisdade of fairly short conidiophores are revealed producing sublglobose conidia up to 4.2 x 3.6 µm.
The conidial shape is wrong for Cordyceps tuberculata - Akanthomcyces pistillariformis. Can anybody lead me in the right direction?
(the conidia resemple the tropial A. elegans but not the synnemata)

cheers

Dear Thomas,

Don´t you have the facilities to grow this fungus? If not I could try it and go further with it.

Best wishes   Walter
