Pezizellaceous asco on Laurus wood
Enrique Rubio, 25-01-2017 19:05
Enrique RubioHi again
I need your ideas for to identify this small, sessile, scutellate, whitish to pale yellowish, unchanged ascomata growing on a pruned branch of Laurus nobilis.
Asci IKI rb (at high concentration), 8-spored, with croziers. Paraphyses filiform, not enlaged at their tips, with no VBs but with some small SCBs, with yellowish content only in older specimens.
The excipulum made by hyaline hyphae running + o - parallel to the surface. No textura globulosa or of cubic cells. Margin made by clavate, hyaine, smooth cells with no content.
It seems to be an Helotiale belonging to the older genus Pezizella.
What do you think?
Many thanks again

Hmm, this is difficult. Something around Hyaloscypha or Cistella. Surely, Pezizella was a waste basket.
Can you send me  the pics in higher resolution?

Yes. I send you them. But the marginal cells are clavate and fully smooth and the ascomatal appearance is not those of these genera that you ssy.

Re : Pezizellaceous asco on Laurus wood
Yes, I understand. A possibility could be "Phaeohelotium" carneum (= subcarneum) as it is in my folder carneum in Leptodontidium (where it probably does not belong). Leptodontidium is presently in Pezizellaceae where it does not belong......

Yes, this fits quite well I think.

Please let me know the collection data.
