En principio Leptosphaeria es un género ciscunscrito a las dicotiledóneas y no a las monocot. Para ellas hay otros géneros como Phaeosphaeria, etc.
Pero hay demasiadas preguntas por responder como conocer el número de septos por espora, saber si las paredes son lisas o no, si las esporas maduras son de color amarillento y si alguna de las células esporales está dilatada.
