Pachyella sp. ?
Stefan Blaser, 23-11-2015 12:21
Hello everybody,

I would appreciate some help with this one:

Found on large, humid Picea trunk in a ravine 19.9.2015

Fruiting body flat, discoid, Ø 1.2 cm, hymenium young with a dark purple-brown colour, old paler purplish-brown. Excipulum whitish, slightly granular.

Microscopy:
Asci cylindric, IKI+ blue (also in dry material), 265-280 x 13-14. Paraphyses clavate, up to 7µm Ø, with brownish contents. Spores ellipsoid, 15-20 x 8-10 µm (Spore print), finely warted, biguttulate. Flesh mostly textura globosa, Excipulum with discontinuous palisadic parts of cylindric to slightly clavate cells with brownish contents.

Thanks for any help,

Stefan

Re : Pachyella sp. ?
I think it is not a Pachyella species, it is a Peziza.

Re : Pachyella sp. ?
I agree with Miguel Ángel, this is a Peziza species. Maybe something around P. celtica

Re : Pachyella sp. ?
Thanks Miguel and Nicolas!

I tried to key it out in Peziza when I first tried to identify it. As far as I remember there was always something that didn't fit, especially when going for the clear xylobiotic ecology.
Anyway, I'll try again...
