lichen-related (?) discomycete on Abies in Bavarian forest (Germany)
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 23-09-2015 13:58
Lothar Krieglsteiner

In the last two days, we again found an black discomycete on decorticated initial-phase-wood of thick lying logs of Abies alba we (I) cannot determine. Already in the last year we had found this species and I send here fotos of both years. When trying to find a name, I came across with Claussenomyces and with Sarea difformis, but both do not really fit (?).

The fully black, sessile apothecia about 1 mm contain short-stalked, unripe thick-walled asci smaller than 30/12 µm and inside are many very small, roundish-elongate spores that are hard to characterise. I did not find spores outside the ascus. The hymenium is covered by a black epithecium like in a lichen. Any reaction with IKI is not observable to me. The excipulum consists of brown isodiametrical thick-walled cells.

I have not good idea - can anybody provide help?

Regards from Lothar

Hallo Lothar

Tromeropsis microtheca.

Andreas
