Miguel Ãngel RibesH again

I have this green Propolis in Pinus pinea cones and wood in a dune environment in Huelva. I think it fits Ok with P. viridis using Baral's key, but I prefer your opinion because I have a previos collection in Eucalyptus from Tenerife with a dubious identification.

Apos aprox 2-2,5x1 mm, green, in cones and woor of Pinus pinea.
Asci 8 spores, IKI -, without? croziers, (81.1) 84.8 - 104.9 (120.3) x (11.6) 12.3 - 15.9 (17.8) µm; Me = 95.8 x 14.3 µm.
Spores with elipsoidal shape, sometimes slightly alantoid, smooth, (15.9) 16.1 - 19.5 (21.5) x (6.6) 6.7 - 7.6 (8.1) µm; Q = (2.1) 2.2 - 2.7 (3.0); Me = 17.6 x 7.2 µm ; Qe = 2.5, with 2 big LBs, (2.3) 2.8 - 3.7 (3.9) x (2.2) 2.7 - 3.4 (3.8) µm; Q = 1.0 - 1.1 (1.2); Me = 3.3 x 3.1 µm ; Qe = 1.1.
Paraphysis thin, multibranched, not enlarged at top, agglutinated by a dark-green substance.
Excipulum (ectal and medullar) with textura intricata?
Margin green, higher than hymenium, with a palisade of perpendicular pirsmatical cells.

Thank you.

Yes, undoubtedly! Interesting also your remark on croziers. I am not sure in your case, but I have no fro all of my taxa information about them. So far when I saw croziers they were always present in these propoloid genera.

Are your ascus data from dead asci? Because only the right of the free figured asci is alive.

Curious about your sample from Tenerife :-)

Re : Propolis viridis 170115 416
I don't know why the asci are dead, the collection is from 17/1/2015 and micro pictures are made in tap water on 20/1/2015, only 3 days latter. I have made new measurements of asci from hymenium cuts and this are, only a little bigger than previous: (87.7) 97.7 - 120.4 (123.5) x (11.7) 12.4 - 16.1 (17.1) µm; Me = 107.9 x 14.1 µm. Anycase, there is a big range of live asci measures, see picture, please.

Thank you.

Re : Propolis viridis 170115 416
These are fine photos! They show strong variation in length which is normal, whereas the width is almost the same (ca. 5% difference). In your measurements the width varies between 12 and 17 µm and this is why I guess you included also dead asci. It is normal that dead asci are in a preparation of a fresh fungus.

From your scales I evaluate for the dead asci on your photo a width of 13-14 µ, while the living have 17-18 µm! Those on the present photo have 88-120 x 17.5-18 if I measure corrrectly. On your previous arrangement I measure +82-100 x 13-14 µm, *120 x 17 µm.

Re : Propolis viridis 170115 416
Impossible to find another alive asci, nor from hand free cut nor taken a small portion with tweezers. Perhaps samples I found had more than 1 year in the field and they look like "fresh" because of the previous days rain. But I think spores are alive, isnt' it?

But at least the new revision has help me to check again for croziers with Congo Red, and I think it has croziers (picture above).

Thank you.

Re : Propolis viridis 170115 416
Yes, surely croziers. And as I said, your beforelast photo shows wonderful living asci, and also the right one  in the compilation is turgescent.

Now I modified my ascus data with data from your collection to
asci *85–120 x 14–18 µm (†80–115 x 11–15)
