Hi all,another peziza-rookie question:
today I collected a quite large Peziza on wood chips. Very pale and with a short stalk.
The remarkable feature were extremely moniliforme paraphyses that lead me to Peziza varia.
But shouldn't this species show IKI+ asci? My test was negative.

C'est la deuxième récolte de P. varia pour laquelle on indique une réaction négative des asques au réactif de MZ. Il s'agit d'une anomalie. Pour ce qui me concerne, j'ai trouvé à plusieurs reprises une réaction négative des asques chez P. vesiculosa. On notera encore que la réaction est souvent négative ou seulement légèrement bleue chez P. subisabellina et chez P. pseudoantracina Donadini (= Marcelleina pseudoanthracina (Donadini) Kristiansen & J. Moravec) (2)
A noter que P. cerea Sowerby, P. micropus Pers.: Fr. avec P. varia (Hedw.) Fr. (1)

While studying Hansen et al. 2002 I got the feeling that I did put my hand in a "hornet's nest" again...
