Gernot FriebesHi,I am curious to hear your opinion on this mater
Diaporthe (?) on Lonicera xylosteum
Enrique Rubio,

This Diaporthe (?) species grews filling the bark of Lonicera xylosteum at 1000 m of altitude.
Have you some idea for this fungus?
Many thanks again

Re : Diaporthe (?) on Lonicera xylosteum
Hi Enrique,
the host looks very much like Rhamnus (cathartica?) and the fungus like Diaporthe fibrosa.
Check both.
Cheers,
Jacques

Re : Diaporthe (?) on Lonicera xylosteum
Thank you , Jacques.
I have seen in Wehmeyer's work that my fungus is closely related with Diaporthe fibrosa, as you say me.
I'm not very sure about the host, but in this place they are Rhamnus alpina. Can this fungus to attack this shrub too?
Enrique

Re : Diaporthe (?) on Lonicera xylosteum
I don't know about R. alpina, I never found D. fibrosa on this host. The whitish and black strips of the inner bark are typical of that genus. The wood structure is also very peculiar when seen on cross section.
Hasta luego!
