Some genera for this asco
Elsa Sousa, 01-03-2015 13:07
Could someone give me a clue on this? I found these ascos growing on soil. We call it "saibro" soil here, I'm not sure about it's translation. They are less than 1 cm in diameter.

All photos on http://mushroomobserver.org/199975?q=2WLbx

Thank you
Elsa

Any micros? What is the size of the apos?
Elsa Sousa, 01-03-2015 18:16
Re : Some genera for this asco
Thank you Otto. I have no means for doing microscopy. Ascos have less than 1cm the bigger is the left one on this photo. Colors are between very light brown to darker brown, as seen in MO link.

Re : Some genera for this asco
Discinella boudieri would be a possibility if inoperculate, but Operculates look also very similar.

Hello Elsa,

difficult - or better impossible - without micros. Anyway, I would suggest Marcelleina.

Hi Elsa,
my suggestion is Sphaerosporella hinnulea, the soil looks periodically overflowed which could be an indication.

Hello all,
I agree with the previous speakers, but without microscope an exact determination isn't possible.
Lothar and Stip, the spot, where I made the pictures from D. boudieri, is known to You (Lycop. innundata, Omphalina mutila et al. Remember You ?) !
Greetings
Peter.

Re : Some genera for this asco
Seems many options for this. It could also very well be a species in the Peziza s. str. group. There are many that produce apothecia along river banks or small streams on sand, gravel or small stones like here. The apothecia colors, texture and shape fits perfectly for that too. Did you dry and keep the collection?  Always an option to pass it on to somebody else who might be interested, if you do not have a microscope.

Re : Some genera for this asco
Well I sent some fresh specimens to Björn Wergen. Let's see if they survived to these days of transportation and he can get to a conclusion.
Maybe it's not a bad idea at all to pick more specimens, if in conditions, to dry, just in case.

Thank you all for your time and suggestions.
