Coryneum? on Tamarix
Viktorie Halasu, 07-10-2023 09:57
Viktorie HalasuHello,
I don't know whether it's possible to determine Coryneum without cultivation, but maybe...

It grew on thin dead Tamarix twig in the city, small erumpent conidiomata.
Conidiogenous cells with max. 1 annelation (far as I can tell),
Conidia 3-4-septate, *(38.1)40.7-49.1(50.6) × (17.4)18.2-20.9(21.5) um, X = 45.0 × 19.6 um, Q = 2.1-2.3-2.5.

In Sutton (1975) I came the closest to C. compactum on Ulmus. How much substrate-specific are Coryneum spp.?

Thank you in advance.
Viktorie

Re : Coryneum? on Tamarix
Hello Viktorie,

If one BLASTs sequences of the type of Coryneum (C. umbonatum), the result shows that even the genus type is not uniformly understood by all authors (see both NJ-trees, based on ITS data, attached here). Therefore I doubt it will work without cultures and sequences.

Kind regards,

Guy
