Peziza or Pachyella?
Henri Koskinen, 09-08-2025 17:52
Hello, would you say this is Peziza or Pachyella? Collected from a wet log in a forest stream in Finland. It was accompanied by Pachyella babingtonii which is common in this forest stream. Asci were 300 - 440 microns and tops of paraphyses mostly 6 - 7 microns (5 - 9 microns) with brown pigments. Spores mostly 20 - 23 x 11 - 13, dotted with many tiny warts. Diameter up to 8 mm. I am not sure about the hyphoid hairs.

Re : Peziza or Pachyella?
Interesting collection. I think it belongs to Pachyella, probably in the clade of species without hyphoid hairs, like P. pulchella.
But I have no idea of what species it could be... So I suggest to document this collection and to sequence it.

Re : Peziza or Pachyella?
Thanks Nicolas, I'll do as you suggested.  The original description of P. pulchella in Persoonia fits very well my collection.
